Sending an audio message: yes. Open the conversation and use the microphone icon next to the box where you type; the first time, your browser will ask permission to use the computer's microphone. That sends a voice message, not text.
Reading an audio someone sent you: not on a PC. Messenger does have voice message transcription, but its own Help Center is blunt about it — the feature isn't available on computers, only on mobile.
Dictating the message you're writing: there's no such feature. Messenger never had a dictate button for the text box, and now there isn't an app that could hold one. Meta retired the Windows and Mac desktop apps at the end of 2025, per TechCrunch, and shut down messenger.com in April 2026, sending everything to facebook.com/messages. What's left is a browser tab. So on a computer, voice-to-text stopped being a Messenger question and became a Windows one.
Nobody opens Messenger on a computer to send "on my way". You open it on a computer when there's volume: a Marketplace listing with nine interested buyers, a group you moderate, the customer inbox for your business. Long threads, and the same answers on repeat.
Still available, price is firm, how late you can meet, address on confirmation. Speaking them is already quicker; for the ones you repeat word for word there are snippets — say a short trigger phrase and it expands to the full text you saved.
Moderating a group or explaining a delayed order takes a paragraph. Speaking a paragraph is quicker than typing the same thing carefully. That gap is the whole point.
At high volume the risk isn't slowness — it's a half-finished reply going out. Dictated text waits in the box and leaves when you press Enter, not before. Reread it, change a name, then send.

None of the three works offline: Microsoft documents voice typing as using online speech recognition and requiring an internet connection. If you need to dictate with no connection, the tool for that is Windows 11's Voice Access, which recognises on-device. Pithflow needs a connection because your audio is transcribed and cleaned up in the cloud.

There's nothing to connect and no extension to install: Pithflow is a Windows app that types into whatever field has focus. For Messenger that's the message box in the tab, exactly as if your hands had typed it.
